MAY 25 | SUMMERFRUIT SHELF LIFE CALCULATOR | ANDREW MACNISH, NSW DPRID | 12PM AEST

Getting fruit to market in peak condition requires more than good growing practices — it requires understanding how your fruit will perform throughout the cold chain.

Developed as part of the Serviced Supply Chains II project (AM21000), the Summerfruit Shelf Life Calculator is a decision aid tool that allows growers to predict remaining shelf life based on variable storage temperatures and export duration. It draws on extensive research into harvest maturity, postharvest handling, and cultivar storage performance.

The calculator is available exclusively to industry through the Summerfruit Australia website, and this session is your practical guide to using it.

Andrew Macnish from NSW DPI will demonstrate how the tool works and, importantly, how to integrate it meaningfully into your supply chain planning, from packhouse to export market. Whether you’re managing domestic storage or preparing fruit for sea freight, this tool is designed to help you make more informed, confident decisions.
